MSNBC has sporting chance after Comcast takeover

www.nma.tv The FCC has approved Comcast’s takeover of NBC Universal. The US billion deal will give Comcast 51% of the company, while GE will retain 49%. As the largest American cable TV provider, Comcast is more concerned with acquiring NBCU’s profitable cable outlets rather than its struggling broadcast network. Comcast will try to become even more competitive, which could mean re-thinking MSNBC. The network began as a venture with Microsoft but slowly devolved into a shouty, left-leaning circus. The solution? A new sports network to compete with ESPN’s monopoly. Keith Olbermann began as a sportscaster and would be able to help his colleagues through the transition. Think of all the new programming possibilities … On second thought, maybe they should just stick to news.

    Who knew Olbermann, Maddow, Matthews, and Scarborough were such great dancers?

  • Winterfang:

    This is the best so far.

  • jpeditor:

    @apatchofbluesky re Beck “180 million Muslim terrorists in the world!” Because we have had to listen to Maddow et al lie that Islam means “peace” and “only 10% of muslims are terrorists”: TEN % of 1.8 billion EQUALS 180 million and Beck is shouting because AMERICA IS DEAF.

    @wblstudios why? if you are angry, you should be angry at comcast? regardless of obvious nma’s usual spoofs using animation, it’s still a fact to what has happened to msnbc.

  • BloodiCheeseCake:

    Eh, I would have preferred it if Chris Matthews got fired.

  • cojudo4life:

    I would tune in to the new MSNBC, especially if they launch these new sport shows.

  • wblstudios:

    @DemiousStudios You’re full of shit you lying cock sucker.

  • wblstudios:

    Fuck you NMA.

    Olberman didn’t quit. His ass got FIRED. He had 2 years left on his contract.

    I haven’t seen any conspiracy theories come out of Glenn Beck. He talks our country’s two opposing political philosophies. He exposes the mindset and intent behind modern ‘progressivism’. He’s proven himself right more often than not. The Nazi thing is blown up. He’s used Nazi references in the past to illustrate various parallels, but never to “smear” someone. He’s made some idiotic comments sure.. But they’re few and far in-between and he’s quick to correct himself when he does

  • xxxWarriorGoddessxxx:

    Did Keith Olbermann(sp?) quit MSNBC last night?

  • 595o:

    @Fitzcard Is he? He comes from a family of republican party members, Microsoft was basically pardoned by Bush Jr and he has contributed towards his re-election. But I guess things are complicated than that.
    And that Steve Jobs is no more the hippie he once used to be is no secret. ;-)

  • TORREY333:

    Go FOX NEWS :)

  • crowdragon99:

    @DemiousStudios Then by all means give me a reasonable answer to why to think Glen Beck who acts like a raving lunatic at times, pulls conspiracy theories out of his but and calls anyone he disagrees with either a Nazi or a Commie more rational than Olbermann or Maddow who at times may seem pompous and overbearing but at least discuss things in a reasonable and rational way. The idea just seems completely absurd to me.

    @apatchofbluesky

    It’s amazing to me that the media has churned out so many of you drones; Mindless, blabbering partisan mouthpieces of ad hominem attacks and shouty slogans. Half of you don’t even understand the issues you’re defending. The other half understand about half the issues and bullshit around the rest by name calling and pasting from the huffington post. You yawn at my comments? LOL! The fact that you see originality in your own comments only showcases your inexperience.

  • DemiousStudios:

    @apatchofbluesky

    “right wing aversion to facts.”

    WTF? You don’t even know my politics son. I said nothing that can be construed as ‘right wing’.

    Your a bad troll AND you fail at sounding pretentious.

    You’re battin’ a 1000.

  • apatchofbluesky:

    @DemiousStudios WOW? How insulting. I’m not a troll, I just don’t agree with your right wing aversion to facts.

  • DemiousStudios:

    @apatchofbluesky

    “Political correctness” is bullshit. It’s just another way of saying “I know how to properly use words and not sound like an uneducated asshole”.

    LMAO! Your not even a GOOD troll.

    Try harder. Go back to playing World of Warcraft kiddo.

  • apatchofbluesky:

    @DemiousStudios “Political correctness” is bullshit. It’s just another way of saying “I know how to properly use words and not sound like an uneducated asshole”. The rest of your comment… yawn talking points blah blah blah they hate me cause I’m racist. Cry moar.

  • DemiousStudios:

    @crowdragon99

    What cracks me up is people like you that jump right into name calling, then point fingers at others, accusing them of “irrational dialog”. Someday when you grow up, you’ll realize that this “right wing” that you spent much of your youth lamenting over isn’t at all anything like what is represented by the likes of Olberman or Maddow.

  • DemiousStudios:

    @apatchofbluesky

    “false equivalency?” You’re probably right, I’ve seen far more extremist left views from MSNBC (IE: BS political correctness; unabashedly misrepresenting “the other” side of issues; race baiting and general hatred of anything not ‘metropolitan’) than I have seen ‘extreme right’ come out of Fox news lately. And please, give it up with the Beck bashing. If anything’s ‘played out’ it’s that. He’s dramatic sure, but he’s not the raving idiot the pinkos have made him out to be.

  • Fitzcard:

    @595o Bill Gates (who was in charge of Microsoft in those days) is a more left prone individual. If you’ve been keeping up with these things then you know Steve Jobs (who recently stepped down for medical reasons, yikes) is more righty and working with Murdoch in deals between Fox and Apple.

  • zebbedi:

    @595o Bill Gates is an honourable man that raised a great company. Just like Google they are ethical on matters.

  • zebbedi:

    @DemiousStudios Well, I’m from the UK. The home of rational non partisan news and I can say unequivocally that Keith Olbermann would fit in perfectly here.

  • mike1111qq:

    I LOVE COMCAST…….. OLBERTURD IS GONE. HA HA HA HA HA HA
