Staged Crime Scene Keeps Man on Death Row

Jimmy Yawn, the former Winter Garden Police Chief, told the prosecution that the body of Charlie Mays was not in the same position in a crime scene photo used to convict Tommy Zeigler in 1976. Jeff Ashton, the prosecutor who screwed up the Casey Anthony case used the same staged photo in 2004 to keep Zeigler on death row another seven years. Demand that the state attorney admit the lies and give Zeigler a new trial or set him free.

If you can delete my comments please do. I have learned my lesson. Don’t talk to strangers. I meant no harm. R

I am sorry if I upset you.I don’t know who that is and I am just an old woman who reads too many crime novels. I do not know if he is guilty or innocent, the book really convicts them all. I usually do have a clear idea who I think is guilty or innocent but not this time that is why I ask questions. Bad idea. I understand why people wonder who they are talking to on these boxes. I am no one involved in this case. As I said, I hope he gets a new trial, I want him to be innocent. best of luck

On the other side of the coin, chief Robert Thompson, conspires with others to commit murder in Costa Rica, hired hit man really, coincedence Hmm. Judge Paul, every reason to want revenge on TZ, doesn’t step down, We know RT’s daughter has spoken out for Tommy. Obviously there is a lot of evidence that should be looked at FOR TZ. He does deserve a new trial. A mans life is on the line. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Why wipe prints off guns?EVERYTHING was going wrong(pg204,Fatal Flaw). If you replace “blurry figures” with “Perry” ,then Tommy lost gun to PE, he then gets gun from desk etc. and gunfight breaks out. TZ gets shot but ultimately wins. The bullets/holes around store attest to quite the gunbattle. Now to maintain his planned story, he wipes his prints off guns, losing the hard earned precious “patsy prints”,or have to explain his prints on guns that shot PE. Everything WAS going wrong.

They were supposed to pick out chair during day, but Eunice had to take a sick cat to the vet. So let’s see: Despite a judge with a grudge, a prosecutor that hid evidence and lied to jury about the blood stain, a staged photo, an accuser with a murder gun in his possession, a policeman who runs guns and plans murder, DNA that says Z’s innocent, you convict him because the lights were off, and he didn’t notice it. Do you think Z poisoned the cat? Are you sure you’re not working for Lawson Lamar?

  • rbnbl:

Even town folk noticed that the store was totally dark, he is an intelligent and observant man whose wife supposedly is inside that store trying to pick out a chair, and he doesn’t notice? He had to show her which key opened the door, but no mention of how to turn on lights? A wreath, hanging lamp and a pole lamp with 3 lights, would not cast light very far. Why not pick out chair during the day, this sounds like someones plan to get them there under specific circumstances. Doesn’t make sense.

Z trial testimony says he did see the Edwards car in front as he drove along the north side with Williams. He says he didn’t notice the store was totally dark and entering the back through a short narrow hallway he still didn’t realize the store was totally dark. As he entered the storeroom from the hallway he was hit immediately. Why would Z take Mays to fire guns in a grove and then wipe finger prints off? Why would Z ask Williams to buy guns for Z? Mays son said Mays took a gun to store. Why?

This case has bothered me for 14 years. I have tried to prove to myself that TZ is innocent, considering how Frye messed(guessed) up the case. I can’t even consider anything the police have said or done as they themselves are suspects. I for the most part- try to only take into account TZs own testimony allowing for the possibility of mis-quotes. I still have nagging questions that no one ever addresses. I think… “the devil is in the details”. Thank you for replying, Rob

Z told Dunaway to turn off the lights in the very front. Other lights were on throughout the store. Don’t know if Z saw the Edwards car in front. Even Williams claimed he didn’t see it at first so Z may have thought they were no longer there. How do you explain Williams truck being in front of the overhead door instead of the small door as he claimed. Did he get his story mixed up? How could Z lock gate, move truck, shoot himself, call police all before Williams ran to KFC across the street?

Don’t know where in store Zeigler was shot so am only offering an opinion, but if he was near the linoleum rack he would have been on the other side of Mays from the chair. A picture of the floor blood stain after Mays body was moved shows what could be a smear near where his left hip might have been. Zeigler was shot in a gun fight with a victim/perp–Mays. More important is that the body was staged probably by Chief Robert Thompson who was later arrested for planning a murder in Costa Rica.

If in fact Tommy crawled over the victim, how did he squeeze between body and rocking chairs? Are you saying the blood was so dry that crawling over the spray pattern caused no smearing , smudging or change of ANY kind? Why didn’t Tommy leave lights on knowing Eunice and her parents were to come to pick out chair when it would be completely dark? Why was he not concerned when he saw their car still parked out in front, wouldn’t he come in calling for them? Was he shot in gunfight w/a victim?
