    If I were to tell you that in taking off the crankshaft pulley, I have stripped the threads in 2 pullers, what would you tell me? I am stumped….

  • XralphiX:

    @BoxWrench Umm i have a question whats that thing under the crank shaft is that like another windage tray? just wondering and also i wanted to know what will happen if you didnt tie down a bolt on the head?

    Oh man am I getting these. I pulled a balancer off of my 68 Buick V6 by hand, with nothing more than a pry bar and flathead. Dumb yes, exhausting, demoralizing, and discouraging? You bet ya.

    @dunn98632 Most kits do come with longer bolts to thread into the balancer and that works great the first time you use the tool. Then it goes into a tool box for a year or two…
    When it’s time to use the puller again, and the bolts are no where to be found…we just want to issue the warning to not try and use the pulley bolts that may only thread into the balancer a couple turns.
    We would stress finding the proper length bolts or buying new ones.

    @Ba1982transam That is a very good warning/suggestion.
    Sorry to hear you learned that lesson personally.
    Did the threads strip out of the crank nose?

  • Ba1982transam:

    Never use an impact to tighten the I was lazy one day And bad stuff happens

    On my 75 AMC 360 the think was a pain to get off. I lost a gallon of sweat taking that thing off. Now I have to put it back on. Wufta!

  • dunn98632:

    Hell my puller kit came with bolts specific for this purpose.

  • DEATH94SQUAD:

    the one that was on my 77 mercury cougar has been on there for the last 33 years and came off extremely easy. i didnt have to stop the engine from rotating at all.
