Clownin’ Around: Findin’ Humor in the Misfortune of Others (Part 3)

This series is displaying the debut of one of the best heels i wrestling history, Doink The Clown. Played by Matt Borne, his run as Doink was one of my favorites. Here are a series of events where Doink made an appearance in his debut, before his name “Doink” was not mentioned until later. 1. December 19, 1992 – The Big Bossman vs. Barry Hardy. After the bout, Doink the Clown tripped up Bossman as he made his way backstage by using a wire he had tied between the guardrails. 2. WWF Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & IRS (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Chris Hahn & Laverne McGill. Doink the Clown was shown in the crowd. 3. December 20, 1992 – The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa) vs. Matt Williams & Dave Morgan. During the bout, Doink the Clown was shown in the crowd. 5. The Nasty Boys vs. Chris Allen & Gus Kantarakis. Doink the Clown – who watched the match from the aisle – gave the Nastys two presents – replicas of the WWF Tag Team Titles, which they gave to ringside fans and a photograph of Money Inc. & Jimmy Hart. 6. December 26, 1992 – Bob Backlund vs. Barry Horowitz. During the bout, Doink the Clown was shown in the aisle with a mop. 7. Tatanka vs. Bret Tyler. After the match, Doink the Clown stuck a mop in Tatanka’s eye when he turned around to walk away from him. On a side note, you got to love how well Jerry Lawler and Bobby Heenen work together on the commentary.

  • bepjr:

It was and it hurt a lot of potential main eventers.

  • bepjr:

    couldn’t agree more.

  • TheDisenherited1:

this was a bad but doing his thing

  • Bkgrill81:

owen hart would have made a great doink…. he was a ribbing genious and he loved his fans too!! he would have pulled it off….

  • bepjr:

    Which is a big shame.

  • TheDisenherited1:

the wwe dont have any good bad guys anymore

  • bepjr:

Now those are the guys that needs to be in the hall of fame of today.

  • TheDisenherited1:

i like Bret Hart, Stone Cold, Razor, Ultimate Warrrior, Sting, Ernest Miller

  • bepjr:

It could of Doink only stayed heel, I like mostly odd and dark wrestlers like Undertaker, Sting, Jeff Hardy, The Brood, The New Brood and etc. I have a list of them on my channel if you feel like checking it out.

  • TheDisenherited1:

doink against da deadman would have been great! doink was the man! what wrestlers do you like?

  • bepjr:

That was dream feud that I wanted to happen at the time. Doink vs Undertaker. Would of been a lot better then The Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez. An evil clown should of been a IC Champion.

  • TheDisenherited1:

I would have had Doink taking on all the big names like The Undertaker, Bret Hart and anybody u can think of. An evil clown is a hell of a gimmick and he would have been a hell of an IC cHAMP.

  • bepjr:

It’s a big shame on how the WWE went to. They need to get their crap together or they will no longer have fans.

  • TheDisenherited1:

the wwe dont even have good bad guys anymore!

  • bepjr:

    You got that right.

  • TheDisenherited1:

this was the good old dayz

This was also a PG era, but in my opinion, the thing that made this PG era so well liked were the outstanding gimmicks (like Doink the Evil Clown, Undertaker, Yokozuna, etc.), great , and memorable exchanges by commentators. I think, and this is just an opinion so please dont give me crap, if gimmicks were brought back and writers had… well… a good amount of imagination, WWE would actually be worth watching. Personally, I think a Doink heel return would do WWE some good.

  • LEEKYLE99:

what i loved about these doink scenes is we get to see how crappy all the old jobbers were lol

  • DarthAbyss316:

I think they did an amazing job with this series of vignettes. They don’t know who the hell this damn clown is & just how he keeps popping up. What is he doing here?? If only they would do this with new wrestlers right now I think that it would really boost the WWE’s viewership. Basically people would tell their friends, “Hey there’s there’s this weird clown that keeps appearing & causing confusion.” Then it creates a ripple effect with friends telling friends telling friends! It’s genuis! XD

  • 2pac4life17:

  • ZOMGDUDEWTFBBQ:

    Ah, the good old days.

Also, lmao at 0:21. That fucking kid. “err…derp thumbs up guise :P
