I think were thinking of different heads here man, what do you mean by friction head? I see no reason to use a friction head (in my eyes were talking consumer tripods here) when there’s a fluid head available! you can get fluid heads for 100 quid these days! Fluid heads are so much better than friction heads (im assuming you mean el cheapo pan/tilt heads here)! Just cos the DSLR is lighter is doesn’t mean that it wont benefit from the fluid head!
