NASA’s Solar Dynamic Observatory filmed images of a large solar flare on February 24 2011. The (M3.6 rating) event is not the strongest solar flare ever recorded but was still big enough to kick up a huge tendril of plasma, known as a solar prominence. The entire eruption lasted for about 90 minutes. Thursday’s flare was the latest in a recent series of of sun storm emissions, but its blast was directed away from the Earth and is not expected to pose any disruption to satellites or other electronic systems. Scientists use a three tier system to classify solar flares; Class X are the largest and most powerful, Class M are medium but still considered very large, while Class C are the weakest..” RT on Facebook: www.facebook.com RT on Twitter: twitter.com

@pursuedrew9
It’s a GREAT time to be alive!
Ugh I cant decide wether this is a great time to be alive or a horrifying time to be alive. It is obviously both but i’m having trouble accepting that answer
Electric grid went down in sothern Ca, arizona and mexico last week, no explaination, interesting…
He didn’t mention the Texas drought did he? shoot farmers have lost about 5 billion dollars so far!
@EndTimesNow2012
No prob…thanks for watching and commenting!
And somewhere far far away a Russian is laughing his ass off at pointless conversations relating this to religion…
@adkinsjr thank you!!
@lostindiancamp
It’s not really on fire. Fire is associated with chemical reactions, on the sun it’s nuclear reactions deep inside the sun that generate the intense heat and turns all the gas into a plasma.
I read a while back that the Sun discharges the equivalent of 4 million million thermonuclear bombs per second. And that if it exploded entirely right now, it would be the same as about 1000 million million million million million hydrogen bombs. I`ve also asked some physicists – who reckon that we`d have to be about 300 million million miles ( 50 light years ) away to escape being killed.
Holy shit! The sun eats hot wings too!!
@mitch019850 no you can’t! its way to hot!!
How can fire burn when there is no oxygen?
Seriously? You’re gonna joke about this….Incase you haven’t noticed the sun can actually send danger our way just by sending out flares like that, especially that size. Wouldn’t be on the news if it was completely harmless, nor would airlines redirect some of their flights.
In space, no one can hear the sun fart.
Holy crap
that came for the earth???
@zimtower Actually millions of years, if not hundreds of millions
@XaviNL lol that flare is waaaay wider than the earth! You can fit 1 million earths inside the sun
The Sun is certainly enjoying itself.
@kludgeon En wie laatst lacht , best lacht !
How big was that flare? 10k, 20k kilometers wide?
@SandyTownsleyTV It is not fake; it was really observed by one of the satellites that are used to study the sun.
I Really Like The Video From Your event is not the strongest solar flare ever recorded but was still big enough to kick up a huge tendril of plasma, known as a solar prominence.
Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing The (M3.6 rating) event is not the strongest solar flare ever recorded but was still big enough to kick up a huge tendril of plasma, known as a solar prominence.
amazing flame is amazing
That solar flare could have solved our energy crisis for a hundred years.
