The Sun Now 2011.04.30
The sun today, AR1195 & AR1199 X-ray solar flares.

Massive X6.9 Solar Flare: The largest solar flare of Cycle 24 just took place at 08:05 UTC and it registered X6.9. The source was Sunspot 1263 which is nearing the Western Limb. Because of its location, any large explosions may not be fully earth directed. When watching new video images from the STEREO website, it appears the CME is less intense than the one caused by the M9.3 flare from last week. A minor S1 Radiation Storm is in progress. Check out the The Carrington Event trailer on my YouTube channel. Just posted this week. We are developing an exciting new TV series that explores the *what if* a solar super storm happens today. Cheers!
@PainlessTragedy I think that is what some of the chemtrails are for. . . Alot of the chem trails contain a chemical that starts with a b (I forgot what its called) and it reflects solar radiation!
All of these flares will probably burn up Comet Elenin
@SolarWatcher Wow thats huge.
@PainlessTragedy see that’s one of the major things wrong with western society, every time someone has a problem, their first instinct is to ask the government to solve it for them, which they’ll gladly do, because it gives them more power. you’re asking the government to take on more responsibilities, which means more power (not that they’ll use that power for that responsibility; usually everything but).
HOW can we protect ourselves…and for how long???
@yokombo Should all these people now apply for studies in Princeton, Havard or Oxford? Experts of NASA do not give any replies on comments and suggestions.
But one fact about any CME seems to be very important regarding its effects on Earth. Except that seldom phenomenon of that CME I observed on Aug 28 and I call ” Fireball CME” all emmit radially away from the sun. If this X 6.9 flare would have occured on the O° longitude facing Earth, its effects would have been 10X stronger
@yokombo Of course that was confirmed by NASA late on Aug 20. You also posted it after! Did you know that before? I guess a larger flare would produce rather a minor CME. as smaller the opening around a sun spot or CH as higher the flare speed and the chance of a CME , as wider as lower).II thought there was a late impact early on Aug 14 and the CME was slown down by CH influences but everyone said to me the xtreme fluctuation on Goes just before it was in the geopause was a CH stream.
What was about that kind of CME ball ejected on Aug 28 from 165° W most likely ar 11270 that did not burst on the sun surface but in a larger distance? it created a CME spreading from there into all directions creating a serial earthquakes beginning two days later, (incl the M 7.0 on SEP 02 near FOX islands)The region W of CH 472 likely rebuilds itself was very active but became quite after that. Has 11270 maybe ejected its solar spot? The effects were more dramatic a than I first believed
The X6.9 flare will not be noticeable on earth. It’s the common and ritualistic fear mongering for the 2012 freaks who should rather get a serious education in astrophysics.
<-------- That was my B-day
@GrapeApe1212 no one dies my friend, enjoy the ride
Do you know if the solar flares are in any way being effected by elenin?
@cat101ism we’re all going to die someday so you shouldnt be scared
In 9 Marz 2011 we had an X1 solar flare, thwo days later the quake in Japan…! this X6.9 solar flare is not direct to us ? really? thanks solar
and we are geeting more earthquakes in the UK that are not being reported…….there was one yesterday in Norlfolk…….and whenever whales beach themselves that means electro magnetic mayhem…….(dead whale in devon)
thanks for posting
@tha1stmc X is the biggest category, anything bigger than X9 just continues X10, X100, X1000 etc
X-flares of Solar Cycle 24: Feb. 15, 2011 (X2), March 9, 2011 (X1), Aug. 9, 2011 (X7). Before these three, the previous X-flare occured on Dec.14, 2006, (X1) during old Solar Cycle 23.
just unbelievable burst, so beautiful
Great work!
Thank you:]
@EarthquakeReporter thanks John, look forward to your reports of significant quake activity, things should pick up very shortly
Thank You!
