X-Class Flare Solar Event Possible Earth Directed CME Imbound When the ejection is directed towards the Earth and reaches it as an interplanetary CME (ICME), the shock wave of the traveling mass of Solar Energetic Particles causes a geomagnetic storm that may disrupt the Earth’s magnetosphere, compressing it on the day side and extending the night-side magnetic tail. When the magnetosphere reconnects on the nightside, it releases power on the order of terawatt scale, which is directed back toward the Earth’s upper atmosphere. This process can cause particularly strong auroras in large regions around Earth’s magnetic poles. These are also known as the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) in the northern hemisphere, and the Southern Lights (aurora australis) in the southern hemisphere. Coronal mass ejections, along with solar flares of other origin, can disrupt radio transmissions and cause damage to satellites and electrical transmission line facilities, resulting in potentially massive and long-lasting power outages.[4] Humans in space or at high altitudes, for example, in airplanes, risk exposure to intense radiation. A Strong M1.4 Class solar flare from AR 11261 was recorded at 5:19 August 2nd, This active region was just past the earth facing position so there could be an associated coronal mass ejection headed earthbound. Associated with this blast was a Halo Coronal Mass Ejection which is earthbound or earth directed. Arnold Schwarzenegger Prank Calls Gateway Kim Possible Style
I am praying that this works. So what I did was download the legendary clip from an Arnold Schwarzenegger internet soundboard skit. The phone prank targest a Gateway Computer support personnel and gives the poor young lady trouble. That was funny enough, and, whilst inspired by the hilarious soundboard prank clip of Arnie phone pranking of an Indian Restaurant, I decided to mash it with a presumably innocent cartoon show, that being the Disney Channel Original Series Kim Possible. On a side note, you can find the Indian Restaurant prank call in my favorites. In replacement of the actual people, I exchanged Professor Steve Barkin with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Voice and Kim Possible with the young lady in the tech team center. I used MS Paint to morph the mouths to the desired shape, and then used Windows MovieMaker to combine the various clips with synchronism. Hopefully YouTube will not screw me over like it has done in the past. If it is asynchronous, I will have to remove the clip. Regardless, over 600 frames were compiled against two minutes of time. It took many hours over the course of two days to complete. These images can be found at: caps.kpfanworld.com The result: two minutes of HILARITY. NOTE: ALL of the work into compiling the clip is mine, and considering the technical difficulty into perfecting it, this may be the only time I may post a work similar to this. Modality and Possible Worlds
This brief clip discusses modality and the notion of possible worlds in metaphysics. Gottfried Leibniz came up with the notion of possible worlds as a way of emphasizing the privileged status that the actual world holds over other potential states of affairs because God consciously created it this way for mankind. Leibniz is famous for stating that this is “the best of all possible worlds.” Next, the clip discusses our modal intuitions concerning “possibility” and “necessity,” and how they can be best understood within the context of possible worlds. “Contingent propositions” are those that are true in some possible worlds and false in others. For example: “Richard Nixon became President in 1969″ is contingently true and “Hubert Humphrey became President in 1969″ is contingently false. While “necessary propositions” are those that are true in all possible worlds. For example: “2+2=4″ and “All bachelors are unmarried.” This leads into a discussion of David Lewis and his claim known as “modal realism;” the view that all logically possible worlds exist in the same sense that the actual world exists. In other words, that these other possible worlds are “really out there.” And finally, the video mentions the striking similarities between Lewis’ modal realism and the “Many-Worlds Interpretation” of quantum mechanics.

I will describe the technical details of a few implementations, how the security of the distributed key might be compromised, and what steps can be taken to prevent this. Speaker: Alexander Ling Alexander Ling is a graduate student with the Experimental Quantum Optics group in the Center for Quantum Technologies in Singapore. He has spent the last four years building sources of high-quality polarization-entangled photon-pairs. The entangled light is then used for various things like testing the validity of quantum mechanics and quantum key distribution. He hopes to complete his Ph.D. in 4 months.
