KOFY TV Retro Night, Episode 33: The Rockford Files with Ronn Owens and Ed Robertson (Segment 3)
Ronn Owens of KGO AM San Francisco (www.kgoradio.com) and Ed Robertson of TV Confidential (www.tvconfidential.net) introduce “The Dark and Bloody Ground” as KOFY TV in San Francisco (www.kofytv.com) showcases The Rockford Files on KOFY TV Retro Night. Ronn and Ed talk about how James Garner did his own stunt driving on the show, and how co-star Gretchen Corbett (“Beth Davenport”) didn’t realize what she was in for when she filmed her first scene with Garner behind the wheel. Ronn and Ed also talk about the rapport between Garner and Noah Beery ( who played Joseph “Rocky” Rockford, Jimbo’s salt-of-the-earth dad), and how that also contributed to the success of The Rockford Files. Dr J Allen Hynenk (Astronomer) in 1974 – Re: 1953 CIA Robertson Panel & 1952 Utah film.
Hynek discusses the 1953 Robertson panel meeting, and how despite agreeing that the objects found on the Utah film were not birds or known craft, the panel decided to call the objects birds. Hynek was suspicious that the whole process was part of a debunking excercies. His suspicion was well founded when the panel agreed to -: “The panel suggested the Air Force should begin a “debunking” effort to reduce “public gullibility” and demystify UFO reports, partly via a public relations campaign, using psychiatrists, astronomers and assorted celebrities to significantly reduce public interest in UFOs. It was also recommended that the mass media be used for the debunking, including influential media giants like the Walt Disney Corporation”
